EVER ACE, the Largest Container Carrier in the World, Beats the World Record for Cargo Carried!
EVER ACE, which recently became the largest containership to cross the world’s seas, also broke the record for transported cargo, on its maiden voyage in the Suez Canal, with 21,718TEU! That’s 285TEU more than the previously recorded maximum!
Since it was its maiden voyage, and because of its unique dimensions, it was closely observed by the Suez Canal Authority, as is usual in these circumstances.
According to the Suez Canal Authority, following its protocols for large ships, especially on its maiden voyages, chief guides were sent to receive and welcome the ship. In addition, a group of senior authority guides, and a tugboat, were assigned to provide additional navigation support while the main traffic office and guide stations, monitored the EVER ACE’s progress during transit.
The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant-General Rabie, took the opportunity to highlight the cooperation between that authority and EVERGREEN. The long relationship with EVERGREEN was highlighted with the approximately 210 ships of the Line that transited through the channel in the last 12 months, representing more than 31 million tons. In 2021, around 145 ships belonging to the shipping company, with a total net tonnage of approximately 22 million tons, already passed through the channel.
